1. Who should take the course, Foundations of the World Christian Movement?

The short answer is: anyone who wants a closer walk with the Lord and is serious about gaining a deeper understanding of His ultimate purpose in the world. Foundations takes you through all of history highlighting the central thread of God’s redemptive purposes.

The Foundations course is taken by many who need a missions course for their bachelors or graduate studies.

The Foundations course is also taken by some who just want to learn more.

Furthermore, this course is for Perspectives Coordinators and those who have taken the course, Perspectives on the World Christian Movement (link to

perspectives.org), and just can’t get enough. Are you one who desires to understand the central story in all of history? Then Foundations is for you.

The course is a good overview of the curriculum, World Christian Foundations (link to

worldchristianfoundations.org). As such, it provides an excellent way for prospective WCF mentors, facilitators, or students to orient themselves to this revolutionary program.

2. What makes Foundations unique?

There are many answers to that question. Foundations summarizes the missiological insights of senior missions thinker, Ralph D. Winter. Dr. Winter’s insights into each epoch of history allow those who want to “obey all that [Jesus] has commanded” to know what has been done before and what needs to be done now for God’s kingdom.

Foundations is also unique in that it is offered entirely online. Are you hesitant to join an individualized distance program? The format in which the Foundations course is taken provides intense online interaction with fellow students and facilitators. This interaction alleviates many of the stresses usually associated with online distance education.

3. How does one enroll in Foundations?

A student may take the Foundations course at a certificate level. In this enrollment type, the student earns a certificate of completion from the Institute of International Studies. This is the recommended level of enrollment for someone who wants to gain a good foundational Christian worldview, but for whatever reason cannot take the class for full credit. In this enrollment type, the student is required to keep up with the course reading and answer all reflection questions. To apply for Foundations for certificate go here. (The words “go here” should lead to

http://www.foundationscourse.org/index.php/about/enroll-now). Fill out the form on the bottom of the “Enroll Now” page.

The Foundations course is offered for 3 semester units at the bachelor’s level at William Carey International University. If the student is not already enrolled in a degree program at WCIU, the student must meet Special Student requirements. Please go here to apply, and here to enroll. Students must be accepted as a Special Student and request enrollment one month prior to the Starting Date for the course.

4. How much does Foundations cost?

Tuition for credit students is $200/unit of credit, which adds up to $600 for this 3-unit course. Your tuition also covers the student’s access to most of the textbooks and reading materials. Those who are not already WCIU students are required to pay $25 to apply to be a student at WCIU.
